The National Film Awards ceremony is the most prestigious awards function for achievement in films in India. The 64th National Film Awards will see Bollywood personalities like Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor being felicitated for their work in film this past year. The stars are getting all dressed up and putting it up on social media for our benefit.
Akshay Kumar won the National Film Award for best actor this year for his performance in Rustom and Airlift. The actor will be receiving the award for Rustom, amidst massive controversy. The actor faced a lot of doubt and criticism regarding his victory, as many people thought that he was undeserving of the award.
Kumar himself spoke up, saying that if he had spent all these years in the industry and still wasn't capable of receiving the award, then he'd rather just return it. Nonetheless, Bollywood praised Kumar for his work and congratulated the actor.
The actor posted a picture of his family gearing up for the ceremony, with his wife and son dressed to the nines. Notably missing is his daughter, Nitara. Kumar captioned the picture "An important day in my life with the most important people in the world to me, my family #NationalFilmAwards"
Sonam Kapoor also donned up for the ceremony. Sonam won a special mention for her performance in Neerja, which received critical acclaim. The actress and style icon looked a vision in a green sari designed by Anamika Khanna.
Anil Kapoor was also among the celebrities prepping for the ceremony. Kapoor will be accompanying his daughter as she receives the award. The actor was definitely one proud dad as he wrote "Dressed up & all set to accompany @sonamkapoor tonight for the #NationalAwards in Delhi! It's a happy day!"
